This hornbill’s massive casque makes it one of the most iconic birds of Sulawesi.

The Knobbed Hornbill is found only in the rainforests of Sulawesi and nearby Indonesian islands. It feeds mainly on figs and other fruits, but also eats insects and small animals, carrying seeds across the forest and helping new trees take root.

A magnificent guardian of the canopy, where every powerful wingbeat helps keep the rainforest alive.
