This bird looks like it has been given oversized feet for walking on water.
The African Jacana is famous for its enormous, elongated toes, which spread its weight across floating leaves and allow it to walk across lily pads without sinking. Found across wetlands and shallow lakes in sub-Saharan Africa, it searches for insects, small crustaceans, and other tiny prey among aquatic vegetation. Its unusual feet are a perfect example of evolution solving a very specific problem.
A master of walking where other birds would sink, proving that sometimes the strangest features are also the most useful.
