The Himalayan Monal is one of Asia’s most spectacular pheasants, with the male covered in shimmering iridescent green, blue, purple, and copper feathers. Found in high-altitude forests and alpine slopes across the Himalayas, it spends much of its time foraging on the ground, digging through soil and leaf litter for roots, tubers, seeds, and insects. When sunlight catches its feathers, the colors can shift dramatically with every movement.
