In 2020, Anthony finally gave in. They welcomed Stilton into their home—and it turned out to be the best decision they ever made.

From the moment he arrived, Stilton stole the spotlight, becoming the ultimate entertainer. Even Anthony, who had been so resistant to the idea, was soon completely smitten.

It was incredible to see a man who once swore he wasn’t a dog person become so inseparable from his new furry friend. But then, Alexina revealed the real reason behind his hesitation in an emotional Instagram video—and it broke thousands of hearts.

The truth was, Anthony wasn’t avoiding a dog because of the extra responsibility, the mess, or the shedding.

He was afraid of the pain of losing one.

“It wasn’t that he didn’t like dogs, or that he couldn’t take care of one, or even that they’re messy. It’s because he knew he would fall so deeply in love that he wouldn’t be able to imagine life without one,” Alexina explained.

The video quickly went viral, touching thousands of hearts. Anthony wasn’t cold-hearted, nor was he avoiding the work of owning a pet. He was just someone who loved deeply—and was terrified of the heartbreak that came with it.
