When I think about puppies, the first thing that comes to mind is playfulness, happiness, and absolutely zero worries. These little beings are pure innocence, exuding nothing but affection and charm. They truly deserve everything wonderful in life. Sadly, this isn’t always the case.

Far too often, I come across stories where puppies, so gentle and loving, are treated as if they are nothing more than troublemakers. My heart breaks every time, and today’s story is no different.

The Heartbreaking Discovery

During one cold day in Sealy, Texas, a Good Samaritan was out for a walk when they made a heartbreaking discovery: three tiny puppies abandoned in front of an apartment complex. With temperatures dropping to dangerously low levels, the puppies were in a dire situation, at risk of freezing to death overnight.

Unable to take them in, the Good Samaritan turned to a local Facebook group, posting about the puppies before moving them into a vacant storage unit to keep them warm. They covered the pups with as many blankets as they could find, giving them a fighting chance at survival.

Upon seeing the post, a kind-hearted Facebook user reached out to Sauver Des Chiens German Shepherd Rescue (SDC), knowing they would be the perfect organization to help these sweet souls. But since SDC couldn’t get there right away, this woman decided to take matters into her own hands. She drove to the apartment complex, picked up the pups, and brought them to her warm, loving home.

A New Beginning

As soon as the pups arrived, they were welcomed with open arms.

“Her children quickly fell in love with the puppies and made it their mission to take care of them,” said Kylie Jackson, an SDC board member, in an interview with The Dodo.

Thankfully, the seven-week-old puppies were healthy, though they had been plagued with fleas. But nothing a good flea bath couldn’t fix!

The children, who were overjoyed by the arrival of the puppies, decided to give them names. The two eldest pups were named Artemis and Hephaestus, while the smallest, most playful one became Squirt.

For the next few days, these puppies experienced what it truly meant to be loved and cared for. Then, they were transferred to a long-term foster home to continue their journey of recovery.

Currently, these sweet babies are living in the loving care of their foster mom, Taite, and enjoying every moment.

“They are settling into their foster home, staying warm, and getting tons of rest and play time,” SDC shared on Facebook.

Though they still have some growing up to do, along with a few vet appointments and vaccines, once these pups are ready, they will be available for adoption!

The Bright Future Ahead

These three puppies would make the perfect addition to any family. They only know love and kindness, and they are more than eager to share it with everyone they meet.

“They love to play and quickly took to their favorite toy, a stuffed octopus,” Jackson mentioned.

Looking at how far they’ve come, I do not doubt that these sweet little angels will soon find the perfect family to share the absolute best life has to offer.
