I have always believed that one of the noblest things anyone can do is adopt a dog in need.

Giving them a new life not only makes the world better for them, but it can also transform our own lives in ways we never expected.

Sadly, not every adopter sees it this way. For some, dogs are just guard animals, treated as nothing more. These owners tend to ignore their pups, and in some cases, they don’t even feed them, leading to all sorts of health problems. It’s hard to understand why someone would adopt a dog only to neglect it in such a way.

This story is no different. It was only thanks to a kind 5-year-old boy that this sweet pup was given any food at all.

A Kind Gesture

When rescuers were informed about a neglected dog in the suburbs of Arizona, Koco Garcia from Handover Rover decided to step in.

She arrived at the location and was stunned to find a compassionate 5-year-old boy feeding the dog.

Garcia spoke to the boy about the dog and its owner, and the boy explained that he fed the dog because the owner didn’t care for him.

While heartbreaking, it was also heartwarming to see such a kind gesture from a child who may have saved the dog’s life.

After confirming the situation, Garcia spoke with the owner and asked if she could take the dog. The owner agreed, as it was clear he didn’t want the dog.

So, Garcia entered the yard to rescue him, where she noticed the only water the dog had was runoff from the air conditioner, which was terribly sad to see.

Given Arizona’s intense heat, these were dangerous conditions for the dog. But this was about to change.

A Big Change For The Dog

Garcia tried to approach the dog. He seemed friendly at first but then backed away. When she attempted to leash him, he started barking, retreating and trying to keep his distance.

It took some time for her to calm him, but eventually, on the second attempt, she succeeded.

The dog tried to pull away, but Garcia remained calm. She offered him some fresh water, and it worked. Who knows when he last had clean water?

She took him to her home in Arizona, where she fostered him until a forever family was found.

At first, the pup was hesitant to leave his crate, but over time and with the love and care he received, that quickly changed. Garcia’s presence made him feel safe and at ease.

He started to make new friends, and it became clear that he was finally happy to be loved and cared for.

Soon, Garcia found the dog a new family, and that’s when he was completely transformed.

He ran straight into his new mom’s arms, and the two have been inseparable ever since. It’s reassuring to know that this dog found his happy ending, all thanks to Garcia and the kind 5-year-old boy who fed him when he needed it most.
