When rescuers discovered two abandoned dog sisters, Kali and Brandi, in the woods of North Carolina, they quickly captured them and brought them to safety.

At the shelter, the sisters were terrified, retreating to opposite corners of their kennel, their eyes filled with fear as they stared at the wall.

Tragically, Kali and Brandi found themselves in an overcrowded shelter, where their chances of survival were slim. They desperately needed someone to pull them from that situation and offer them a second chance.

The shelter shared a heart-wrenching video of the sisters trembling in their kennel, hoping someone would come to their rescue before it was too late.

Rescuing the Sisters

The video, posted in July 2015, went viral, moving hearts everywhere. Rescue Dogs Rock NYC felt compelled to help and immediately took Kali and Brandi in.

The dogs were examined by a vet and diagnosed with heartworm disease, beginning their course of treatment. The rescuers, noticing the dogs’ overwhelming fear, suspected they had been abused and would need rehabilitation and lots of love.

Although they were initially thought to be two years old, further investigation revealed that Kali and Brandi were six. The rescue placed them with an experienced foster and trainer, assembling a team of professionals to help the sisters every day.

Healing Broken Hearts

Once in their foster home, Kali and Brandi clung to each other, hiding in corners, their bond clearly visible. Their foster family showered them with affection, speaking softly to help them feel safe.

During their first week, Kali and Brandi remained cautious, still unsure of their new surroundings. Whenever their foster parents attempted to pet them, the dogs became even more frightened.

Yet, with the patience and love of their foster family and professional team, the sisters slowly began to trust again. They ventured outdoors, learning to walk on a leash and enjoying the warmth of the sun.

Thankfully, their treatment for heartworm disease was a success, and the sisters began to show their true personalities. They became affectionate, offering kisses and enjoying belly rubs.

The Search for a Forever Home

With hearts healing, Kali and Brandi began searching for a forever home in the summer of 2016. Because of their strong bond, both the rescuers and foster family insisted they be adopted together.

Though they were lovable and adorable, the sisters waited a long time for the right family to come along.

Finally, in July 2017, their dreams came true.

A wonderful family met Kali and Brandi, and it was love at first sight.

The sisters said goodbye to their foster parents and moved into their forever home, beginning the happiest chapter of their lives.

At first, Kali and Brandi were a bit shy with their new parents, but soon, they realized the depth of their love and care. They settled in and began to feel secure.

The girls are now living their best lives.

They shower their family with love and wag their tails at the sight of them.

From once-frightened sisters who huddled in a shelter kennel, Kali and Brandi blossomed into happy, confident dogs.
