Like so many shelter dogs, Ace dreamed of finding his humans and experiencing the love he longed for.

He waited patiently, but day after day, potential adopters passed him by.

After more than 420 days at the Miami-Dade Animal Services Pet Adoption & Protection Center in Florida, the four-year-old dog began to lose hope of ever finding a home.

But little did Ace know his life was about to change most wonderfully.

Living the Dream

When Hurricane Milton hit on October 9th, 2024, the shelter made a heartfelt plea for the community to foster its residents to keep them safe temporarily.

Gabrielle Brudner and her family immediately decided to help and headed to the shelter.

Their hearts broke when they saw Ace lying on a thin blanket on the hard floor. The discomfort from resting on such a surface for so long had left him with painful sores.

Determined to give him a better life, the compassionate family decided to foster Ace, promising to show him the love and care he deserved.

As soon as Ace realized he was leaving the shelter, his excitement was undeniable. He couldn’t stop jumping with joy, thrilled to escape the noise and chaos of the shelter.

Ace basked in the love of his foster family, quickly winning their hearts. Gabrielle became deeply attached to him, hoping with all her heart that he would soon find the forever home he so deserved.

After a few days with his temporary foster, Ace was moved to another home.

Gabrielle couldn’t help but miss him.

When she learned that his new foster home wasn’t a good fit, a deep sadness took over her. She couldn’t stop thinking about the kind-hearted dog.

Back at the Miami shelter, Ace was enrolled in a two-week training and obedience program, hoping this would bring him closer to the home he truly deserved.

A New Chapter for Ace

It wasn’t just Gabrielle who fell in love with Ace—her whole family did, too. They realized how much they missed seeing his sweet face every day and knew they couldn’t let him go.

So, they decided to adopt him.

When Gabrielle’s dad shared the news with her, her heart soared with joy.

As soon as Ace completed his training program, his new family eagerly picked him up and brought him home, where his heart overflowed with happiness.

To help Ace feel completely at home, they bought him a bed and a soft blanket embroidered with his name.

Ace couldn’t contain his excitement. He stretched out on his new bed, a big smile lighting up his face. This was his moment of pure comfort and happiness.

Gabrielle shared a video of Ace’s adorable reaction on TikTok, and people couldn’t help but fall in love with him.

At last, Ace could relax, knowing he was in a warm, loving home where he belonged.

Ace went from a lonely shelter dog, lying on a hard floor and watching life pass him by, to a joyful pup living a life of luxury.
