Two years ago, Anna was rescued from a heartbreaking situation. Found in a dumpster alongside her mother and brother, this sweet, all-black pit bull was taken in by Strong Paws Rescue.

Her rescuers hoped she would quickly find a forever home.

A Journey of Heartbreak and Hope

Sadly, that hasn’t been the case. While her fawn-colored mom and brother were adopted almost immediately, Anna is still waiting for someone to choose her.

“Because of her breed and color, she’s only had one application, even though she’s an amazing dog,” Chelsea Dom from Strong Paws Rescue shared.

Despite her loving nature, Anna has faced an uphill battle in finding a family due to misconceptions about black dogs and pit bulls.

A Life of Temporary Homes

Since her rescue, Anna has been placed in eight different foster homes, each move breaking her heart a little more. Her last two moves were especially tough.

“She actually tried to run back inside both foster homes because she knew she was about to leave again,” Dom said. On her most recent move, Anna buried her muzzle into a volunteer’s arm, seeking comfort as she was transported yet again.

The constant upheaval has made Anna hesitant around new people at first, but once she feels safe, she transforms into the sweetest, most affectionate dog. “

She’s a complete wiggle butt when she opens up to you,” said Meagan Kobielski, Strong Paws Rescue’s founder.

A Forever Home for Anna

Anna’s rescuers know she deserves a permanent home where she can finally feel settled and loved.

She thrives in the company of friendly dogs and would do best in a quiet, female-only household without cats or small children. Beyond that, all she wants is a family to love her unconditionally.

Despite the challenges she’s faced, Anna’s resilience and capacity for love are boundless. She just needs someone to give her the chance she’s been waiting for.
