However, some pups find themselves in dire situations simply because their owners are unsure of how to help them—take Qwerty, for instance.
He was undoubtedly a cherished dog, but due to his unique short spine syndrome, his owners made the heartbreaking decision to leave him outside a local shelter, accompanied by a touching note that expressed their love.
Roadogs: Heroes on the Road
Qwerty Cosmo patiently sat outside the shelter, hoping for someone to see him. When the staff finally did, they were taken aback by what they found. He was left with a heartfelt note, clearly penned by a child, that read: “I love my dog. Please don’t hit him. It’s a boy.”
Touched by his story, the shelter staff wasted no time in reaching out to Nikki from Roadogs Rescue in California, a dedicated advocate for dogs with unique conditions seeking their forever homes. Upon hearing about Qwerty, Nikki’s heart swelled with compassion, and she eagerly agreed to welcome him into her care!
While dedicated RR volunteers typically foster dogs, Nikki felt a special connection with Qwerty and decided to welcome him into her home. She wanted to bond with this sweet pup and truly understand his unique condition.
From the moment Qwerty arrived, his friendly spirit shone through. Despite his unusual appearance, he displayed no signs of weakness or health issues. Although he looked different, Qwerty embraced his life wholeheartedly, proving that he was more than capable of living as joyfully as he was.
With paws wide open, he adapted beautifully among his fellow doggos and savored every moment of his foster experience!
He delights in going for walks, running freely along the beach, and joyfully chasing a ball with his furry siblings.
While he may not be able to leap onto the couch or run for hours on end, Qwerty is content with his little life, embracing every moment. Nikki feels a warm sense of happiness, knowing that he’s destined to bring joy to a loving family one day.
Just a few weeks after he was welcomed into foster care, the perfect family appeared on the horizon!
Heading to Their Forever Home
An incredible family from Florida instantly fell in love with Qwerty the moment they spotted him online. Julie and Scott already shared their home with a sweet female dog named Cuda, who also had short spine syndrome, and the resemblance between the two was simply remarkable!
“There’s no denying the similarities between Qwerty Cosmo and Cuda,” Qwerty’s new family shared on Instagram.
Although Cuda had sadly crossed the rainbow bridge a few years back, Julie and Scott felt a deep sense of gratitude for the chance to welcome another deserving dog into their hearts and home.
Qwerty settled into his new home as if he had always been a part of it! With the support of his new hoomans and doggo siblings, he quickly embraced his surroundings, reveling in the joy of being a cherished family member.
“He will never be let go of again… He is ours now and forever. And to his former people, he is safe. Thank you for leaving him where you did instead of in some remote area. I only wish you could have found the help he needed. Your dog was incredibly lucky to be rescued. Not many are,” his new owners expressed.
Today, Qwerty enjoys a life full of joy and excitement! He meets new friends every day, plays happily with his siblings, and gets along wonderfully with both cats and other dogs. His gentle spirit shines through in every interaction, and he’s truly a sweetheart to everyone he encounters!
