One heartbreaking case comes from California, where a backyard breeder discarded a litter of puppies.

When a compassionate woman received a call about a puppy barely three days old, she immediately knew she had to act. The entire litter was clinging to life, desperately in need of urgent help!

Battling for Survival from the Very Start

Clanay Reza, a compassionate animal lover and independent rescuer from California, received a distressing call from a neighbor of a backyard breeder.

A whole litter of puppies was struggling to survive under their deceased mother, who had tragically bled to death. Among them was Lucky, the weakest of the bunch—so tiny he was no bigger than a baby hamster.

Despite the odds stacked against him, Clanay refused to give up. She tirelessly fed him formula every twenty minutes, sacrificing her sleep during those crucial first few days. Her determination to help Lucky shone through, even in the darkest moments.

“I never knew if tomorrow was guaranteed for him. During Lucky’s first eight weeks of life, sleep was a rare luxury. I spent countless nights watching over him, ensuring he was still alive and breathing,” Clanay shared on Instagram.

Tragically, Lucky’s siblings didn’t survive, leaving him as the sole pup with a fighting chance.

Countless Sleepless Nights

After weeks of relentless fighting, Lucky had finally emerged from the brink of danger, but his journey was far from over. As his little eyes began to open, he faced a new battle: a yeast infection and a corneal ulcer that would ultimately lead to the removal of one of his eyes.

“We discovered he was blind in one eye and had a puncture along with a corneal ulcer. As he grew, the ulcer and puncture worsened, causing him pain, so at just four months old, we made the tough decision to remove his eye,” shared Clanay.

At only ten weeks old, Lucky was diagnosed with albinism, a condition stemming from a recessive gene due to inbreeding. Despite these challenges, Lucky’s spirit remained unbroken, showcasing his resilience through each hurdle he faced.

In his first year, Lucky faced relentless challenges. He lost his siblings and his mother and navigated a series of tough obstacles. Yet, through it all, his will to live remained unbreakable!

“He’s had a rollercoaster of life during that first year, but I’m grateful for every bump along the way. Each challenge only deepened my love for him,” Clanay shared.
