When rescuers finally brought Buddy to a warm and loving home, he felt happiness for the very first time.
But then, tragedy struck once more, and it was a heartbreak that no one could have anticipated.

A couple of compassionate souls discovered Buddy living in dire conditions, far removed from a loving home. They opened their hearts and took him in, but heartbreakingly, after just one month, they had to surrender him to a local Texas shelter.
Unfortunately, Buddy’s situation became increasingly grim as he remained overlooked by potential adopters. With no one stepping forward to give him a chance, the shelter scheduled him for euthanasia.
Just when it seemed all hope was lost, a glimmer of possibility appeared. The shelter found Buddy’s microchip, revealing that he once had a family. However, when they reached out to his original owner, a devastating response shocked everyone.
“When the shelter discovered Buddy had a microchip and an owner, it should have been a moment of hope—a chance to reunite a lost dog with his family. But tragically, the owner expressed no interest in Buddy’s wellbeing,” as noted by CUDDLY on their website.
Upon hearing about Buddy’s heartbreaking situation, a compassionate small rescue stepped forward, shining a light on his story. This intervention inspired a caring young couple to foster him, giving Buddy another chance to escape the worst possible fate.
However, the unfortunate reality was that Buddy was far from healthy.
The couple quickly discovered that Buddy was suffering from severely damaged heart and lung conditions, which made it nearly impossible for him to stand. The rescue organization recommended that they return him to the shelter, as they lacked the funds to cover his medical expenses.
Yet, despite this discouraging news, the couple remained determined to help Buddy at any cost. They invested thousands of dollars in his veterinary care and ultimately contacted Hoardin’ Huskies Rescue in Sumter, South Carolina, hoping for a chance to save him.
In collaboration with CUDDLY, an online fundraising platform that aids countless shelters worldwide, Hoardin’ Huskies quickly transported Buddy to veterinary care.
For the first time in what felt like an eternity, Buddy finally received the proper treatment he desperately needed. Now, he’s on the road to a full recovery!
Relentless Hope
Buddy’s journey to the vet clinic was nothing short of a desperate mission. It took his foster nearly five hours on the road. They carefully transported him with an oxygen tank that was alarmingly close to empty by the time they arrived.
“The trip was nerve-wracking for both Buddy and his fosters, as he struggled for air during the four ½-hour drive,” noted a member of the Cuddly team.
Upon their arrival, Buddy’s condition was critical. He gasped for breath, prompting the immediate need for emergency care as the team rushed him to the ER to begin treatment.
Buddy, this resilient pup, is on a challenging path to recovery. The veterinary team remains hopeful that, with the right care and support, he will emerge victorious from this struggle.
“He is still on oxygen, but overall, he is doing remarkably well! Buddy needs another two weeks of rest, and we’re optimistic that he will pull through,” Cuddly shared in their latest update.
