1929 Duesenberg Model J ‘Disappearing Top’ Torpedo (by Murphy)

A marvel of American luxury from 1929, this Duesenberg was crafted with striking looks and advanced technology. Powered by a 265-horsepower straight-8 engine based on Duesenberg’s racing designs, it stands among the rarest variants from renowned California coachbuilder Walter M. Murphy. Only six “Disappearing Top” Torpedo Convertible Coupes were constructed, each featuring a convertible top that stored neatly beneath a leather cover when lowered.

This particular example showcases a distinctive bare aluminum body with brush-finished sides and mirror-polished rear deck. Its flowing “boattail” design and single-passenger rumble seat make it particularly special.
