Starved Dog That Ate Rocks And Twigs For Survival Finally Gets A New Life

Stray dogs often endure harsh conditions just to survive each day. Many go days without a decent meal, surviving on scraps and whatever they can find.

The prolonged lack of nutrition leaves them in a pitiful state, where desperation forces them to consume anything, no matter how unsuitable for their survival.

This story highlights a dog in desperate need of help who endured the unthinkable before his rescue.

A Dog In Desperate Need Of Care

When the Southern Animal Organization was alerted to a severely malnourished dog roaming the streets of New Orleans, they came to his aid immediately.

The sight that greeted them was heart-wrenching. The Weimaraner mix, later named Alex, was on the brink of starvation, barely able to move. Without delay, the rescuers transported him to Vermilion Parish’s Rabies Animal Control in New Orleans, where he could finally receive the care he so desperately needed. During his initial examination, an X-ray revealed something utterly shocking.

In his fight to stay alive, Alex had resorted to eating rocks and twigs—anything to stave off hunger. The discovery was devastating, a testament to the sheer desperation this poor dog had faced.

Fortunately, Alex’s nightmare was now behind him. He was finally in a place where he would receive the nourishment and attention needed to regain his strength.

Alex’s Path To Recovery

With weeks of care and dedication, Alex’s condition began to improve slowly but surely. Throughout his recovery, Alex had the companionship of Diane Lundeen, a kind woman who initially took him in as a foster.

What began as a temporary arrangement soon blossomed into something much deeper.

Diane found herself forming an unbreakable bond with Alex, and it became clear that he had found his forever home.

Under Diane’s care, Alex’s health improved remarkably. His weight steadily increased, and his once downtrodden spirit was lifted. The transformation was incredible—he went from a sad, abandoned pup to a joyful and playful dog, all in a matter of weeks.

The most heartwarming part of Alex’s story is that he now has a loving family. He gets to spend his days with his new doggie siblings, showing them just how special he is.

It’s a story of hope and second chances, where a once-starved dog now enjoys every moment of his new life.

Seeing Alex thrive in his new environment is nothing short of a miracle. He’s proof that, with a little love and care, even the most desperate situations can turn into happy endings.
