Escalators are already scary for some of us.
The thought of shoelaces, clothes, or even a leg getting caught in those relentless moving steps is enough to make anyone nervous.
But recently, one poor cat lived through the nightmare most of us hope we never see in real life and it had an entire crowd watching in horror.
The video, which has been making the rounds online, shows a small cat caught in a moving escalator.
Somehow, her paws slipped into the narrow gap between the steps, leaving her completely trapped. What followed was every animal lover’s worst fear.

The cat’s cries were heartbreaking.
She meowed loudly, calling for help, while desperately trying to pull herself free.
Each attempt only made her more panicked, and the sound of her cries filled the space, grabbing the attention of shoppers nearby.
Within moments, several people gathered at the scene.
Some stood frozen in shock, others pulled out their phones, and a few brave souls decided to step in and try to rescue her.

She quickly grabbed what looked like a ripped T-shirt and carefully wrapped it around the frightened cat.
The goal was to protect the kitty’s paws while others tried to free her.
It was a tense few minutes, the cat hissed, scratched, and tried to wriggle away, clearly terrified and in pain but no one gave up.
Together, they worked methodically, using the T-shirt and another cloth to shield the cat’s legs and gently pry her paws free.
You could feel the tension in the air as everyone watched, waiting to see if the poor kitty would make it out without serious injury.

But instead of relaxing into the arms of her rescuers, she did what most scared animals do.
The moment she realized she could move again, she bolted. In just a few seconds, she disappeared from sight, leaving the onlookers stunned.
The video ends there, and unfortunately, we never find out what happened to her afterward.
Some viewers speculated that she might have been a stray cat who ran back to her favorite hiding spot to lick her wounds.
Others hoped she belonged to someone nearby and would eventually make it home, where her worried owners could take her to a vet to get her paws checked.
