His owner searched high and low but, eventually, had to accept the heartbreaking reality that he might never return.
Fast forward 7 years, and just as she thought she’d never see him again, she received an unexpected text.
It was from 24Petwatch and the Walker County Animal Shelter. Kevin had been found!

Kevin’s microchip was the miracle that reunited them. When the shelter scanned him, his owner’s details popped up, and the staff wasted no time reaching out.
“I will be there at 10 am when they open to get my Bubba!” she shared in a heartfelt post online, filled with joy and disbelief.

But here’s the twist—Kevin wasn’t far from home. In fact, he’d been living just a mile away in a managed cat colony.
His caretaker even had his ear tipped, a sign he’d been neutered and part of the colony. For seven long years, he roamed as a free spirit, surviving against the odds.

Once back in her arms, his owner was overcome with mixed emotions—relief, joy, and a tinge of guilt for not knowing he’d been so close all along.
“My guilt from absorbing that he’s been so close and outside this whole time is overwhelming,” she confessed.
