Stormi, a heavily pregnant Pit Bull, was on the verge of being euthanized.
Her rescuers had until 2 p.m. to rescue her, and time was running out fast.
The Heart-Pounding Rescue
Lisa Chiarelli from Frankie, Lola and Friends in California and her friend Karla were determined to save Stormi’s life, no matter what.
When they learned that this expectant pup was scheduled for euthanasia, they rushed to the shelter— and they made it just in time!
“The shelter gave this sweet girl until 2:00 today to be rescued. @lisachiarelli and I couldn’t get her out of our minds… We couldn’t let this be the end for her and her babies,” Karla shared on Instagram.
Arriving at the shelter a mere forty-seven minutes before Stormi was due to be put down, her rescuers breathed a sigh of relief.
Stormi, despite the discomfort of carrying her litter, seemed to understand that her fate had changed. She jumped into their car, a symbol of her newfound hope.
Stormi found her temporary sanctuary with Karla and her delightful pack of foster dogs.
The pup stayed in a quiet area of the house, with her new canine companions only briefly visiting to sniff her.
Karla wanted to ensure that this soon-to-be mother adjusted comfortably before interacting with the rest of the pack. Though Stormi was naturally friendly, she seemed eager for companionship.
Welcoming a New Family
The day arrived when Stormi gave birth to a stunning litter of eight puppies.
It was far more than Karla and Lisa had anticipated. They were overjoyed to see Stormi embracing motherhood with such grace.
Unlike some of Karla’s previous fosters, Stormi was an exceptional mother. She took care of her puppies with dedication, spending her days in a cozy, private room to relax and bond with her newborns.
Stormi mastered the art of nurturing, feeding, and keeping her little ones warm, discovering the profound meaning of maternal love.
As her puppies grew and were ready to explore the outside world, Stormi surprised everyone once again.
Her playful behaviors with other dogs were the highlight of their days. Her time in foster care allowed her to regain her trust and rediscover the joy of life.
Among her new friends, Stormi developed a special bond with Anna, a blind Pit Bull, and enjoyed her new life to the fullest.
