Samson Is The Biggest Cat Of New York City — But His Massive Size Comes With A Heartbreaking Twist

Meet Samson, a Maine Coon cat so grand that he’s taken the title of New York City’s largest feline.

At 4 feet long and an astonishing 28 pounds, Samson isn’t just a cat. He’s a phenomenon!

But don’t mistake his size for just weight; he’s a perfectly proportioned, fluffy giant whose charm and personality are as outsized as his physique.

Samson’s story began with a twist of fate.

His owner, Jonathan Zurbel, recalls how Samson landed in his life:

“He fell from heaven into my arms. Not really, but my brother got him for his ex-girlfriend, and when they broke up, I took care of him for a few weeks. We became inseparable.”

What started as a temporary arrangement turned into a lifelong bond, and today, Samson is more than a pet, he’s a superstar.

For a cat his size, Samson is a rarity.

Most Maine Coons max out at around 25 pounds, but Samson defied expectations.

Even his owner was surprised when the scale tipped at 28 pounds.

“We couldn’t believe his weight,” Zurbel shared.

“He’s the heaviest cat on record in the local area.”

Yet, Samson isn’t just big, he’s strong, healthy, and comes from champion lineage, proving he’s more than just a fluffy spectacle.

Life with Samson is anything but ordinary.

He loves fetch, follows his owner around like a loyal dog, and even has a favorite movie, Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2.

But being a gentle giant also comes with unique challenges.

From consuming six cans of wet food daily to regular $120 grooming sessions, Samson’s upkeep is a full-time job.

Zurbel wouldn’t have it any other way, though.

“He’s affectionate and sweet,” he says.

Samson’s fame isn’t limited to his size.

His Instagram account, @catstradamus, has amassed tens of thousands of followers, with fans drawn to his majestic appearance and tender personality.

Groomer Carolyn Ayala describes him best: “He’s the Fabio of cats. A gentle giant.”

As Samson lounges in his Brooklyn home or draws crowds in his pet stroller, one thing is clear: he’s not just NYC’s biggest cat but also its biggest heart-stealer.

And with his growing fame, Samson might just use his platform to shine a light on important causes like cat adoption and shelter awareness.

This colossal kitty isn’t just living large, he’s living legend.
