Tiny Puppy Was Marked To Be Euthanized Until A Vet Tech Stepped In To Save Her

When a fragile pit bull puppy came into the world, she carried a challenge that almost cost her life.

Weighing only a few ounces and no bigger than the palm of a hand, she had been born with a serious injury to one of her front legs.

To the breeder who owned her, the wound meant she had no value. Instead of trying to help, they decided the easiest choice was to have her euthanized.

A Tiny Puppy No One Wanted

That decision might have sealed her fate if not for Kel Izumine, a veterinary technician and the founder of Rock And Roll Rescue Hospice House (RARR).

Kel met the newborn when she was only days old. She placed the tiny pup against her chest, listening to her breathing and feeling her small body tremble with life.

At that moment, Kel could not understand how anyone could see the little one as disposable. She asked the breeder to hand the puppy over, promising that she would do everything possible to give her a future.

With reluctance, they agreed. Kel named the pup MJ, and the journey toward survival began.

MJ’s first months were filled with battles most dogs never face. Because of the severity of her injury, she needed emergency surgery that resulted in the amputation of her leg.

At less than two months old, she underwent two separate procedures, each one risky for such a young and fragile body.

Yet MJ came out on the other side stronger than anyone expected.

A Fighter With A Loud Spirit

What made MJ remarkable was not just her recovery but the way she carried herself. She was not quiet or timid. Instead, she was vocal, dramatic, and expressive — constantly barking or crying out as if to tell the world she had no plans of giving up.

Her caregivers often laughed at her boldness, finding joy in the way such a tiny dog could command so much attention. It quickly became clear that her missing leg was never going to define her.

The staff at RARR adored her. Nurses eagerly volunteered to bring her home for weekend foster care, turning her visits into playful adventures.

They would joke about who got the next turn, because time with MJ always brought smiles and laughter.

She learned to walk on a leash with confidence, hopping along proudly as if she had all four legs. With every week, her strength grew, and so did her charm.

A Short But Beautiful Life

Eventually, MJ was ready to leave the rescue behind and step into a new life. She didn’t have to wait long.

One of Kel’s closest friends had been following her journey and decided to adopt her. The day MJ met her new family, her tail wagged furiously, as if she knew this was her forever home.

She even received a new name — Nebula, a symbol of light and wonder.

For the next two years, Nebula lived as though she had been born for joy.

She filled her days with play, cuddles, and the warmth of her adoptive mom, Dr. Drea Dillon, who adored her beyond measure.

Everyone who met Nebula was touched by her story of resilience. She became a reminder that even lives once written off can bloom beautifully when given a chance.

But life had one more trial in store.

At only two years old, Nebula developed a rare spinal cord disease. Despite treatment and care, she eventually passed away, leaving behind a grieving family and a community that had cheered for her since birth.

Her loss was heartbreaking, yet her short life was filled with love, something she would never have known without Kel’s intervention that first day.

Kel later shared her gratitude to Nebula’s adoptive mom in a heartfelt message, thanking her for giving the little pup a home where she could shine.

Nebula may have been taken too soon, but her legacy lives on as a powerful story of second chances.

She proved that compassion can change the course of a life and that even the smallest soul can leave behind an enormous light.
