But one chocolate Labrador named Stella may have taken it a little too far one day.

Her owners noticed that something wasn’t right. Stella wasn’t feeling her usual self, and they had no idea what could be wrong. So, they decided to take her to an animal clinic, only to be stunned by what their sweet pup had been hiding!

Without wasting time, they rushed Stella to Cochrane Animal Clinic, where she was scheduled for X-rays within hours.

Nervous about what the results might be, her owners could never have guessed what the X-rays would reveal. And then came the shocking news!

The clinic’s staff had their doubts. Stella’s case was so unusual that they questioned whether they were seeing things clearly.

For a moment, they couldn’t believe their own eyes…

And then, the truth came out! The reason this goofy Lab wasn’t feeling well was because she had eaten—brace yourselves—eight pairs of underwear!

“Oh Stella, what on earth have you gotten yourself into?” the clinic wrote in an Instagram post.

That’s right! She didn’t just munch on one, but eight whole pairs of underwear that made her feel sick.

The good news? It all ended with routine surgery, and before long, Stella was back home.

“Thanks to Dr. Becky, Stella is on the mend and is probably reconsidering her fashion choices going forward,” they added.

The clinic’s video of Stella’s x-rays quickly went viral on Instagram, sparking thousands of funny reactions!

“I don’t get how they swallow entire socks and underwear! But try to give them a pill with treats, and they’ll spit out just the pill,” one commenter joked.

Why Do Dogs Chew On Underwear?

While Stella’s story is certainly amusing, chewing on underwear can sometimes point to more serious issues.

According to the American Kennel Club, this behavior often starts during a dog’s teething phase. If that’s not the issue, it might be linked to stress, anxiety, or even a compulsive disorder.

However, the most common reason dogs chew on underwear (or other clothing) is boredom. For intelligent dog breeds, mental stimulation is just as crucial as physical exercise.

In short, to keep your dog from snacking on your undies, make sure they get plenty of mental exercise.
