1937 Horch 853 Spezial Streamlined Coupe ‘Manuela’

This magnificent German automobile celebrates the legacy of racing champion Bernd Rosemeyer. Created for the Auto Union star after his championship victories in 1936-37, this recreation faithfully reproduces a celebrated automotive treasure. The powerful 4.5-liter straight-eight engine develops 100 horsepower, channeled through a five-speed manual transmission. Coachwork was constructed on a shortened 130-inch 853 chassis, featuring distinctive flowing lines with tapered pontoon-style fenders crafted by renowned coachbuilders Erdmann & Rossi.

The original “Manuela” (nicknamed by Rosemeyer) disappeared during World War II, making this thoughtful reconstruction historically significant. Built using an authentic 853 chassis, the body was meticulously recreated with wooden forms before being paneled in aluminum. Finished in deep blue with elegant black leather interior and crowned by a rare authentic Gülde fabric sunroof, this vehicle honors one of motor racing’s greatest figures.
