1947 Chrysler Windsor Highlander Convertible

This distinctive post-war convertible emerged when American automakers resumed civilian production with modified pre-war designs. The Windsor Highlander featured a 250-cubic-inch “Spitfire” straight-six engine generating 114 horsepower, often paired with the optional semi-automatic Fluid Drive transmission that added $32 to the purchase price.

Production numbers reached approximately 11,200 Windsor convertibles across the 1946-1948 model years. The Highlander variant stood out with its signature plaid interior upholstery and special badging, making it a sought-after collector’s item today.

These vehicles typically wear correct color combinations like Sumac Red with tan canvas roofs. Many surviving examples have received comprehensive restorations including fresh paint, new interior upholstery, engine compartment detailing, and replacement convertible tops.
