1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible

American automotive design reached a high point with the 1960 Chevrolet Impala Convertible. As part of the second-generation Impala family, this model retained some styling cues from the ’59 version while taking a fresh direction with more conservative horizontal fins and the return of three round taillights on each side.

Under the hood, the available 348 cubic-inch V-8 with Tri-Power carburetion produced up to 335 horsepower in top form, hinting at the muscle car era to come. With comfort features like power steering, power brakes, and a power-operated convertible top, this was luxury within reach for American families.

The Impala became America’s sales champion in 1960 with 511,925 units built, including just 79,903 convertibles, making these drop-tops especially valuable among collectors today.
