1974 Škoda 110 LS
Rear-engine placement distinguished Czechoslovakia’s compact sedan range during the early 1970s, with the 110 LS representing the top specification available from 1971 through 1976.
Approximately 40,000 examples were produced, making it one of the rarer variants within the broader 100/110 series that exceeded one million total units.
The LS designation shared its higher-compression 67 CI overhead-valve four-cylinder engine with the sporting 110 R Coupé, producing 52 horsepower. Curb weight was approximately 1,875 lb (850 kg).
All-round independent suspension combined with rear-wheel drive and a four-speed manual transmission. Disc brakes were fitted at the front, with drum brakes at the rear.
The rear-mounted engine configuration influenced weight distribution and handling characteristics typical of this layout. Top speed reached approximately 90 mph, with 0-60 mph acceleration in roughly 17-18 seconds (or forever).
Despite relatively modest production numbers, the model was homologated for FIA Group 1 competition. The 110 LS continued until replaced by the 105/120 series in 1976, which retained the rear-engine architecture but incorporated a front-mounted radiator and revised interior packaging.
