The Grande trim package added luxury appointments to the Mustang coupe lineup from 1969 through 1973.

Available exclusively on SportsRoof coupes in 1969 and on notchback coupes from 1970 through 1973, the Grande featured a contrasting grained vinyl roof, body accent striping, upgraded wheel covers, and color-keyed dual mirrors, along with additional sound insulation and exterior brightwork.

Inside, cloth and vinyl upholstery combined with wood-grain dashboard accents, an electric clock, and upgraded trim. The package added roughly $300 to the base hardtop’s price, which was about $2,700 for 1973.

Engine choices ranged from a base 250-cubic-inch inline-six to several V-8 options, including two 351 variants. The top Q-code 351 Cleveland four-barrel was rated at 266 horsepower (gross) and could be paired with a four-speed manual transmission and optional Traction-Lok rear axle for strong performance.

The 1973 model year marked the Grande’s final appearance before the Mustang’s downsizing for 1974. That year saw 25,274 Grande units produced, the highest total for any Grande model year. Both the Grande trim and convertible body style were discontinued after 1973.
