This little ginger cat was rescued by me from a busy road. At the time, its mother had been run over by a car, and the kitten was just lying beside her body amid the traffic.
I happened to be driving by and stopped to pick up the little one. But it clung tightly to its mother, refusing to let go. Eventually, I had to fetch a plastic bag and a screwdriver from my car. Carefully, I placed the mother cat into the bag, then dug a hole in an empty patch of soil by the roadside and buried her. As I covered the grave with earth, the kitten desperately clawed at the soil—I could tell it didn’t want to let its mother go.
It’s been half a month since the little ginger came home with me. It still spends all day clutching a plush toy that belongs to my son. I know it’s still thinking of its mother.
It turns out that whether human or animal, the longing for a mother is the same. From now on, it won’t be a motherless child anymore—because it has me!
