1952 Lagonda 2.6-Litre Drophead Coupé
Following David Brown’s acquisition of Lagonda in 1947, the company’s first post-war model emerged with advanced engineering that would influence automotive development for years. The 2.6-Litre Drophead Coupé, produced from 1949 to 1953, featured W.O. Bentley’s twin-overhead-cam straight-six engine (the same unit that powered the legendary Aston Martin DB2) and Frank Feeley’s elegant convertible bodywork.
Only 124 examples were built by Tickford, making this one of Britain’s rarest luxury grand tourers. With 105 horsepower initially (increased to 125 in the Mark II), it could comfortably transport five passengers at high speed while positioned strategically between mainstream luxury brands like Jaguar and Rover and ultra-premium marques like Rolls-Royce and Bentley.
