1968 Chevrolet Camaro ‘SS Tribute’

Finished in Tuxedo Black over a black interior with houndstooth seat inserts, this 1968 Camaro was restored as an SS tribute and presents with the visual character that made the first-generation model one of Chevrolet’s most enduring designs. Chrome five-spoke American Racing wheels add contrast against the dark bodywork.

Under the hood sits a 454 CI V-8 fed by a Holley EFI system in place of a conventional carburetor, paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The 454 was not a factory option in 1968 (the largest available engine that year was the 396), making this a purpose-built restomod rather than a numbers-matching SS. Inside, a wood-grain center console, upgraded gauges, and air conditioning round out a cabin that prioritizes usability alongside period style.

The first-generation Camaro was introduced for 1967 as Chevrolet’s answer to the Ford Mustang, and the SS package emphasized performance with upgraded suspension, distinctive badging, and high-output V-8 options.
