It all began one rainy morning when, while distractedly answering a phone call, I stepped outside my workplace and noticed a cat lying almost lifeless in a puddle.
Her small body trembled uncontrollably, a heartbreaking sight with no owner in sight.Just then, a kind young lady noticed my concern and stopped to offer assistance.
After hearing the situation, she immediately drove us to the nearest animal hospital. The cat struggled as we gently placed her in a bag for transport, convulsing the entire way.
Upon arrival, the veterinarian began an emergency examination. The cat remained unconscious, and a bystander suggested she might have been poisoned.
The initial diagnosis confirmed our fears: she had likely ingested rat poison.Despite the high treatment cost, I knew abandoning her was not an option.

In the days that followed, her condition remained critical as she received injections and close monitoring.Initially, she refused food and water, growling softly at anyone who approached.
Despite my initial fear of cats, I couldn’t ignore the connection I felt when our eyes first met. It was as if she was silently pleading for help, and I resolved to do everything possible to save her.

On the third day, a glimmer of hope appeared: she began eating.Though still wary, her physical condition started improving.
The vet informed me she was likely around three to four years old and had been neglected for some time. Her fur was dull, and she hadn’t been spayed.
Watching her take those first steps toward recovery filled me with cautious optimism.
By day five, the cat, now named Lubian (meaning “roadside”), began to show signs of trust, rubbing against my hand for the first time.

This small gesture made all the challenges worthwhile. Her appetite increased, and though she still struggled with injections, her spirit visibly brightened.
Her resilience inspired me to remain patient, even when she scratched me during her adjustment to her new home.

Weeks turned into months, and Lubian transformed. Her fur grew back glossier than ever, and she began exploring her surroundings with curiosity.
Toys that once scared her became her favorite distractions, and gradually, she let down her guard. She started seeking affection, snuggling into my lap and following me around the house.
Each milestone felt like a triumph.
Three months later, Lubian was unrecognizable from the trembling cat I first encountered. She had become a happy, healthy companion, her days filled with warmth and care.

Her playful, childlike nature brought immense joy to my life, and she grew more affectionate by the day, always eager to be near me.
Reflecting on this journey, I am grateful for the opportunity to save Lubian. She taught me about the power of compassion, patience, and trust.

From a near-death experience to becoming a beloved member of my home, Lubian’s story reminds us that even the smallest lives can inspire the greatest transformations.
Her unwavering spirit has forever changed my perspective on animals and their incredible capacity for love.
