1952 Kaiser Deluxe Virginian 2-Door Club Coupe
Howard “Dutch” Darrin’s influence on the 1952 Kaiser Virginian is unmistakable: the distinctive “widow’s peak” windshield header, a pronounced dip at the junction of the front and rear fenders, and what was at the time one of the largest one-piece curved windshields in the American auto industry combined to give the car a profile unlike anything else in showrooms.
The Virginian name was applied to what was, in mechanical terms, a lightly updated 1951 Kaiser with revised trim and detailing, offered in Special and Deluxe trim across two- and four-door body styles.
Power came from Kaiser’s 226 cubic inch “Supersonic” L-head inline six, rated at 115 horsepower, with the General Motors Hydra-Matic available as a transmission option.
A total of 14,274 Virginians were produced for 1952, making them a genuine curiosity today. The Virginian was dropped after the 1952 model year as Kaiser streamlined its lineup, leaving this short-lived variant largely overlooked by history.
