1927 Oldsmobile Model 30 Series E

General Motors marked the end of an important model line with significant updates for the 1927 Series E. This final year of the Model 30 series introduced four-wheel brakes and a one-piece windshield, replacing the previous two-wheel braking system and split glass.

Available body styles included a 2-door Roadster, Coupe, Sport Coupe, Sedan, 4-door Touring, and Landau.

The Series E featured an enlarged 185ci straight-six flathead engine that produced approximately 40 horsepower, a notable increase from the 169ci unit used in earlier Model 30 variants. The cast-iron engine utilized a single-barrel Carter updraft carburetor and featured a 2⅞-inch bore with a 4¾-inch stroke.

Built on GM’s shared A platform alongside the Buick Standard Six and Oakland Six, the Model 30 represented Oldsmobile’s mid-level offering.

Production ended in 1927, with the larger F-Series replacing it in 1928, making the Series E a transitional model in Oldsmobile’s evolution from the vintage period into the late 1920s.
