1952 Allard J2X

Representing the peak of British sports car engineering combined with American V8 power, this legendary roadster made a major impact on the early post-war racing scene at iconic venues from Watkins Glen to Le Mans.

Built between 1951 and 1954, only about 77 examples of the J2X were produced, making it among the rarest of Sydney Allard’s competition machines.

The J2X featured an extended tubular chassis that moved the engine approximately 7.5 inches forward compared to its J2 predecessor, improving weight distribution and providing more cockpit space. This refinement, combined with updated front suspension using trailing radius arms, significantly improved handling characteristics.

Most J2X models were shipped to America without engines, where owners typically fitted powerful Cadillac 331 cubic-inch or Chrysler Hemi V8s into the lightweight aluminum bodywork.

With a typical curb weight of just over 2,300 pounds, the combination of American horsepower and minimal British engineering created a formidable performance package capable of 0-60 mph acceleration in around 6-7 seconds, depending on engine choice.
