Yesterday I had to send my beautiful girl of 23 years over the Rainbow Bridge. She was my longest living baby, one of our OG kitties. During a thunderstorm, she showed up in our driveway as a kitten with what the vet guessed as an electrical burn on her lip. She grew up with my human babies, guarding them with a fierceness normally reserved for mama bears. Over the last 2 weeks, she had slowed down and I knew our time together was counting down. We snuggled more, shared ice-cream and plenty of love. When I came home yesterday, she called for me from the bathroom and my heart dropped. Off to the vet I ran, holding her in a baby blanket…where our trusted vet confirmed what I knew in my heart. It was time. With my heart breaking, I said goodbye to my friend of 23 years all the while telling her how much I love her and thanked her for being our kitty. In the end, it all comes down to love ❤️
Please love your babies a little longer today as I’m missing my beautiful girl. Perhaps share a little ice-cream, maybe that was the secret to her longevity.
