1965 Abarth 695 SS Assetto Corsa Radiale

This incredibly rare Italian speed demon represents one of just five factory-built examples equipped with the experimental “Radiale” hemispherical engine head, making it potentially the only such car in America.

Built by Carlo Abarth’s legendary Turin operation, this pocket rocket transformed the humble Fiat 500 into a formidable competition machine that nearly tripled the original’s horsepower output.

The 695cc engine displaced almost 700 cubic centimeters compared to the original 500cc unit, utilizing special monoblock liners, competition pistons, and revised camshafts. With its five-speed gearbox and lightweight 1,102 lb (550 kg) construction, the Assetto Corsa could achieve speeds exceeding 105 mph despite its diminutive size.

Racing-focused modifications included attractive fender flares accommodating wider magnesium wheels, front disc brakes, reinforced suspension, and a close-ratio gearbox.

Abarth’s competition philosophy of minimal weight combined with maximum performance created a giant-killer that dominated racing classes worldwide, contributing to the company’s unprecedented 10,000+ racing victories.
