1970 Aston Martin DB6 Mk 2 Vantage
The legendary 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Mk 2 Vantage represented the final version of this celebrated line before the company shifted focus to the DBS. This last iteration featured subtle but significant upgrades over its predecessors.
The Mk 2 maintained much of the mechanical foundation of earlier DB6 models, but added standard power-assisted steering and a modified clutch plate. Buyers could choose between a ZF five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Exterior changes included wider Avon wheels necessitating flared wheel arches, while the interior received DBS-inspired updates with pleated leather seats.
The Vantage specification was particularly rare – only 71 Mk 2s received this high-performance engine option with triple Weber carburetors that delivered 325 horsepower compared to the standard 282. Optional features available included seat belts, additional mirrors, driving lights, radio, and sometimes factory air conditioning – a particularly uncommon addition for this model.
