1907 Cadillac Model M Coupe

Precision engineering defined this early luxury automobile from one of America’s most respected manufacturers. Built between 1906 and 1908, the Model M featured a 76-inch wheelbase that was two inches longer than its Model K sibling to accommodate various body styles, including the distinctive coupe configuration.

The Model M showcased Cadillac’s commitment to interchangeable parts manufacturing, a revolutionary concept that would later influence the entire automotive industry.

Power came from a vertical 98.2-cubic-inch single-cylinder engine producing 10 horsepower, featuring a cast-iron cylinder with copper water jacket. The drivetrain utilized a two-speed planetary transmission with chain drive to the rear wheels, while 30 x 3.5 tires mounted on 12-spoke wooden wheels provided the rolling foundation.

Originally priced at $950, the Model M represented accessible luxury during the automotive industry’s formative years. Brass headlamps, carriage lamps, and body trim complemented the elegant coachwork, while the reliable Leland & Faulconer-built engine earned recognition for dependability during this pioneering period of American automobile manufacturing.
