This bird… prefers chaos over solitude — living in noisy gangs instead of quiet pairs.

In the open savannas and scrublands of South America, Guira Cuckoos move in lively groups, hopping through low shrubs and open ground with constant chatter. Their scruffy crests and warm buff feathers give them a slightly unkempt look, as if shaped by the wild itself. They hunt insects, small reptiles, and other prey together, often cooperating or competing within the same flock. What makes them extraordinary is their communal life — sometimes sharing nests and raising young together, a rare and chaotic form of teamwork in the bird world. A rowdy presence in the open land, yet a social spirit of the savanna.
