1956 Chevrolet 150 Coupe
Chevrolet’s entry-level offering for 1956 featured a completely redesigned body that would become one of the most recognizable shapes in automotive history. The 150 coupe represented the budget-friendly option in Chevrolet’s lineup, sitting below the 210 and Bel Air models while sharing their distinctive new styling.
The two-door coupe displayed clean, modern lines with a longer, lower profile than previous years. Chrome accents remained minimal compared to higher trim levels, though the car still featured the signature dual headlight treatment and prominent grille design that defined the mid-1950s Chevrolet look.
Under the hood, buyers could choose between the reliable 235 cubic inch “Blue Flame” inline-six engine or the newer 265 cubic inch V8. The V8 option provided significantly more power, with available outputs up to 205 horsepower depending on carburetor and transmission configuration, and helped establish Chevrolet’s reputation for performance during this period.
This particular example was later fitted with a 383 cubic inch stroker V8.
Despite being the base model, the 150 coupe offered solid construction and dependable mechanicals that made it popular with practical buyers who wanted modern styling without premium pricing.
