Some owls, especially young ones, can sit flat on the ground with their legs stretched out in front of them. This happens because their bodies are still developing β€” their legs are relatively long but not strong enough to support them upright for long. So instead of standing, they simply plop down and rest in this unusual position.
It may look funny or even a bit human-like, with a big head, round eyes, and legs straight out πŸ˜„ But it’s actually a natural and energy-saving posture. As they grow older and stronger, owls will stand properly and stop sitting this way.
