This bird walks on water.
In the wetlands and marshes of the Americas, the Purple Gallinule moves effortlessly across floating vegetation with its long, slender toes. Its vivid plumage shimmers in shades of purple, blue, and green, glowing against the reeds and lily pads. It feeds on plants, seeds, and small creatures, often using its feet to hold food while eating. What makes it extraordinary is its balance and agility — stepping lightly over delicate surfaces where few birds can go. A flash of color on mirrored water, yet a graceful spirit of the marsh.
