1951 Pontiac Eight Streamliner Deluxe Station Wagon
The 1951 model year marked both Pontiac’s Silver Anniversary and the final season for the Streamliner name, making the Deluxe Station Wagon among the more collectible configurations from this period.
A wing-shaped anniversary grille distinguished the front end, while the body itself (all-steel construction, a significant departure from the wooden-framed wagons of earlier years) carried simulated wood exterior trim alongside genuine wood interior accents, earning the model its enduring “Tin Woody” nickname.
Under the long hood sits the 268 CI flathead straight-eight, an L-head unit producing 116 horsepower in standard-shift tune, backed here by Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, independent coil spring front suspension, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes.
Pontiac’s own literature pitched the wagon as the fix for “shopping, youngster toting, vacation, camping and plain workhorse problems,” and with seating for up to eight across three rows, the claim was not unreasonable. The Streamliner nameplate was retired entirely after this model year.
