1968 Jensen Interceptor

Italian design house Carrozzeria Touring created one of the most distinctive British grand tourers of the late 1960s with their styling work on this handbuilt machine from West Bromwich.

The Interceptor’s sleek fastback profile and wraparound rear glass created an instantly recognizable silhouette during its 1966-1976 production run.

Under the hood, Jensen paired Italian aesthetics with American muscle, installing Chrysler’s 383 cubic inch V8 as standard equipment, mated to the TorqueFlite automatic transmission.

For those wanting more power, a 440 cubic inch V8 option became available in 1969, and it later became the standard engine in 1971.

The most advanced variant was the FF (Ferguson Formula), which became the first production car to feature full-time four-wheel drive, along with anti-lock braking and traction control through the Dunlop Maxaret system. These technologies were remarkably sophisticated for their time.

With relatively low production numbers across all variants (just over 6,400 Interceptors and about 320 FFs built), the Interceptor remains a rare sight today, with surviving examples commanding significant attention from collectors.
