Look closely at this picture — it’s not two pinecones.

One of them is actually a young Striped Cuckoo, perfectly camouflaged beside a real pinecone. Its streaked feathers, rounded shape, and still posture blend so naturally into the surroundings that it almost disappears from sight.

This remarkable disguise helps the chick stay hidden from predators while resting quietly among branches and forest debris. In the wild, survival often depends on remaining unnoticed for just a few extra seconds.
