1922 Packard Series 126 Single Six 5-Passenger Touring
Packard responded to disappointing sales of its compact Series 116 by launching two redesigned Single Six models in mid-1922. The Series 126 and 133 (named for their wheelbase lengths) offered larger dimensions and more attractive styling than their predecessor. These models maintained Packard’s reputation for quality and performance at prices competitive with Cadillac.
Weighing about 3,700 lbs., the 126 featured a five-passenger touring body on a 126-inch wheelbase. Standard finish included Packard Blue paint with black fenders and running gear, complemented by black leather upholstery. Under the hood sat a 288-cubic-inch L-head inline-six producing 54 horsepower.
Priced at approximately $2,485, the Series 126 Single Six Touring became Packard’s best-selling model for 1923. It successfully bridged the gap between the company’s affordable six-cylinder line and its expensive Twin Six flagship, helping Packard more than double its production between 1921 and 1923.
