1959 Cadillac Kad-A-Mino Custom

Custom car builder Gene Winfield created this unique El Camino-style vehicle using 1959 Cadillac donor cars, combining elements from both two-door and four-door models to produce a one-off design that fused the front end of a 1959 Cadillac with a custom pickup-style bed and tailgate, while maintaining the iconic Cadillac tailfins.

The Kad-A-Mino represents an unusual car-truck hybrid interpretation of Cadillac’s fin-era styling, similar in concept to a Chevrolet El Camino but executed with Cadillac luxury and Winfield’s custom craftsmanship. The conversion required extensive fabrication, including a hand-formed tailgate, modified backlight glass, and specialized roofline work.

The exterior retains the distinctive 1959 Cadillac characteristics, including the towering rear fins with bullet-shaped taillights and elaborate chrome grille. Winfield applied his signature blended fade paint technique in Candy Blue while preserving much of the factory brightwork. A custom hard tonneau cover encloses the carpeted bed.

Power comes from Cadillac’s 390 cubic inch V8 paired with a Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle is equipped with luxury features of the era, including air conditioning, power steering, and power brakes.
