This bird can gather in flocks of more than a million birds during migration and on salty lakes packed with food. This bird spends much of its life swimming and diving for tiny aquatic insects and crustaceans instead of walking on land. During certain seasons, huge groups can completely cover sections of water like a living dark carpet from a distance. This bird is also surprisingly adapted to highly salty lakes where many other waterbirds would struggle to survive for long periods. Eared Grebe 👍
