1932 Auburn 12-160A Custom Speedster
Powered by a substantial 491-cubic-inch V-12 engine, this vehicle featured distinctive proportions with an elongated hood followed by a compact two-passenger compartment that curved into what collectors often describe as a “boattail” design.
Auburn built these vehicles with Art Deco styling elements and typically finished them in two-tone color schemes. The model included premium appointments designated by the “Custom” specification, such as chrome wire wheels, chromed headlights and driving lights, plus the trademark Auburn Flying Man mascot mounted on the radiator.
Unlike most contemporaries that declined in value after their production years, these Auburn Speedsters maintained collector interest continuously from the 1940s onward. With limited production numbers, authentic examples represent significant artifacts of American automotive engineering from the classic era.
