1963 International C-900 Pickup

International Harvester’s C-900 pickup represented the company’s entry-level light-duty truck offering in the early 1960s, competing against Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge in the growing pickup market. The “C” series designation indicated a conventional cab configuration, distinguishing these models from International’s cab-over-engine designs that were popular for urban delivery work.

The 1963 model year fell within the C-Series generation (1961-1964) of International’s light trucks. These trucks featured a more modern appearance than their predecessors, with a wider grille, integrated hood and fenders, and a squarer cab design that replaced the rounded styling of the 1950s. International positioned these vehicles primarily for commercial and agricultural use rather than personal transportation.

The C-900 was offered only in two-wheel-drive form and used a 107-inch wheelbase chassis. Power came from International’s 152-cubic-inch (2.5-liter) inline four-cylinder engine (borrowed from the Scout) producing around 93 horsepower. A three-speed manual transmission was standard. While modestly powered, the truck’s rugged construction and simplicity made it well-suited for light-duty hauling and farm work.

International’s truck division faced increasing competition from the Big Three automakers during this period, as Ford and Chevrolet invested heavily in their pickup lines. The C-900 and related models maintained a loyal following among buyers who valued International’s agricultural equipment heritage and straightforward engineering approach.

Today, the C-900 is a rare sight, prized by collectors for its distinctive styling and connection to International’s storied past in both trucks and tractors.
