1958 Buick Special Convertible
Dubbed “The Air-Borne B-58 Buick” after America’s nuclear bomber, the 1958 Buick Special featured a Fashion-Aire Dynastar Grille, Vista Vision quad headlamps, and chrome-heavy reverse-canted fins – all demanding attention.
1958 marked several Buick milestones: it introduced quad headlights while retiring the famous Dynaflow transmission after four million units. It was also the first and last year for the “Air Poise” suspension system. The trademark “ventiports” on front fenders disappeared for the first time since 1948. Additionally, Buick celebrated its millionth car equipped with power brakes that year.
