1952 Ford F-1 Pickup

Ford revolutionized its truck lineup in 1948 by introducing the F-Series with a dedicated truck chassis that didn’t share components with passenger cars. The first generation ran through 1952 and included models ranging from the light-duty F-1 through the heavy-duty F-8, covering pickups, panel vans, and cab-and-chassis configurations.

The trucks featured the innovative “Million-Dollar Cab,” which offered significantly more interior space and comfort than previous Ford trucks. For 1951-1952, this design was refined and renamed the “Five-Star Cab.”

The F-1 sat at the entry level of the lineup as the half-ton pickup. Buyers could choose between flathead inline-six and V-8 engines, paired with three- or four-speed manual transmissions. The 215 cubic-inch inline-six produced 101 horsepower, while the 239 cubic-inch flathead V-8 delivered 106 horsepower, providing solid performance for both work and everyday driving.

These first-generation F-Series trucks established Ford’s dominance in the pickup market and created a foundation for what would become America’s best-selling vehicle line. The 1952 models represent the culmination of this initial design, incorporating four years of refinements before the completely redesigned second generation arrived for 1953.
